Dominique Sciamma

Holding a DEA (former French postgraduate degree taken prior to entering a doctoral program) and a Maîtrise (former first year of a Master’s degree) in theoretical Computer Science and a Maîtrise in Mathematics, D. Sciamma has led a thorough career within international companies from 1980 to 1997. Before joining Strate Collège Designers, D. Sciamma handled three activities in the meantime: he was a teacher, a pluri-media author and an NTIC consultant.

As a pluri-media author he has participated in the script-making and the production of:

  • CD-ROMs for a broad audience (”TINTIN” for Infogrames, KLEIO for Larousse, XIII for Dargaud),
  • Professional CD-ROMs (”Vers l’Euro et au-delà !”, for the French Public Accountants Council - Off-Line Prize at Biarritz Festival in 1998)
  • Web site design, handled both editorial and ergonomic tasks (CNP, Musée de la Poste, EBI, Forco, …)
  • Mobile phone game design (Mega Box conquest for Sagem)
  • Communication Comics (nominated to ALPHART at the Festival d’Angoulême 2000),
  • Co-author of a cartoon project with P. Christin et JC. Mézières (Authors of VALERIAN).

As a consultant for companies’ head offices he helped brands define their offers and strategies involving new technologies of information and communication.

As a software designer, he is the author of Rexpublisher, content manager tool now in use in about thirty companies, and has received the support of the ANVAR (national agency for the development of research). He also created the Artificial Intelligence language XILOG.

As an on-line publisher, he directed and enhanced French newspaper “La Tribune“’s Multimedia strategy between 1996 and 1998. He was awarded the Grand Prix OnLine of the Biarritz Festival 1997 for the newspaper’s website.

As a Marketing manager, he defined SSI EDS’s Multimedia strategy between 1992 and 1995, after creating a team of consultants dedicated to solving problems said to be “very complex” (Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research).

As an expert in AI, he spent two years in Singapore between 1989 and 1991, thus ending 12 years within the Bull group, where he successively worked as Researcher in AI (Innovation Bull prize in 1987), Product Manager, and Marketing Director in the same department, and he eventually created the South-East Asia department.

In Strate, he heads the newly created “Interactive Systems and Products” deparment, which aims to help designers take up the challenge of designing “Smart Objects” and fostering new uses.

He also teaches communication to first-year students, and is part of the team devoted to the follow-up of 5th year students.
